CBS: Can't Beat Stewart

Mailbag

Tell CBS it's time you support Martha!

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

I must say I was surprised and very disappointed to learn you have cancelled all vestiges of Martha Stewart from your network. It's absolutely ridiculous to have cancelled her shows. More than ever, Martha Stewart fans want to see and tape her shows. Her trial is smelling like more of a sham with each passing day. Please bring Martha back! It's in your best interests!

Best regards,

Maureen O'Grady

Dear CBS,

I want to watch Martha again. I miss her. I relate to her and her work. I think she has done more for women thinking for themselves than anyone ever has. Maybe that is why some people don't like her. She would be intimidating for a lesser person. Bring her back and I will go back to watching CBS.

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.  I cannot believe that CBS has pulled the show!  But then who can believe in the judgment of anything or anyone in this day and age?

I have not and will not watch CBS ever again until I KNOW that her show is back on the air.  I don't care if it is reruns from now until they finally get their fill of trying to strip her of everything she has dedicated her life to, much to the benefit of ours!
Is there anyone listening to our pleas????????

Don't get cocky like ABC with the programs they turned down, and you benefited from, you can fall down too!

B.B.

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

I watched this show faithfully every morning until you gave Martha the boot.  I know many others have done the same.  Having Martha on the show added something unique.  Without her your program is no different than any other competing program.  It is disgusting that so many people have turned their back on Martha.  She needs our support, including you.  Please bring Martha back.  Until then, I am refusing to watch your show and anything else on CBS.

Thank You,

Sincerely,
F. Lourette

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.
Of all the celebreties you have on your network, Martha Stewart has been
one of the most productive and has contributed greatly to your audience.
Don't be a diva-bigot; bring Martha back.
Otherwise, I will only watch the Food Network to watch Martha - after all,
what else does CBS have to offer, Star Search?
Keep this quality show on your network - you have so little already.
Lil Stewart

Dear CBS,

I love to watch Martha because she not only provides wonderful cooking, gardening, decorating howto's, she also features many related small businesses, travel areas, etc. that might not otherwise have this wonderful exposure.  In a country where the economy needs help, these small businesses are the ones providing needed jobs.  This helps the country as a whole.   .

The above-mentioned business jobs do not include those of the tremendous Martha Stewart Omnimedia staff.  These folks, while often behind the scenes, also provide much of the material for Martha's show.   Why should we crucify these innocent folks for the sake of one person?  Why not help these folks continue on with their work?  It's good, afterall isn't it?

While I don't believe Martha was guilty of crime, even if she was, it was insignificant in my eyes compared to all the other wonderful things she has done.  Must we always sacrifice someone in the media?  Do we always need a "fall guy" to be sacrificed when a small mistake is done?

How about making a statement from CBS that distances the station from Martha's legal troubles, and rather chooses to focus on the "good things" offered by Martha and her staff, and as such will continue the Martha Stewart Living programming at the 9:00AM time slot?

Such a tremendous leap towards good would satisfy the large favorable audience of the Martha Stewart Living programming, foster the small businesses depicted by it, & the U.S. economy as a whole, and raise the esteem of the CBS station/corporation in the viewers eyes...that it can forgive a person's transgressions!

By-the-way, I believe that your ratings would go up too!!

Thanks for listening.

Sincerely,

Sandra Hutchinson

Dear CBS,Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

I sincerely feel that Martha Stewart is unjustly being attacked. It's as if the media has had their judge and jury of their own. Her show is missed by millions of viewers....for so many reasons. I loved watching how easy she made it to learn new ideas on cooking and craft projects. Martha has a way about her in reaching her public. She's always sincere.....and positive in the way she teaches. She doesn't get hurried.....which helps us amateurs learn better. She shows much grace on air....even under pressure and she's had alot of that lately.

It truely is sad when a celebrity is the victim of a witch hunt and is so blatantly attacked from the media. If she made an error in judgement because she trusted people she's worked years with....then so be it. But honestly I think the courts should be the ones who "try" this case....  Martha may not always be a bubbly, happy go lucky ....sex symbol of America. Her demeanor is that of a "homemaker", who is sincere, yet friendly. The attacks on her character is irrelevant in her case....people should leave her alone in that regard.

There has been talk that she can be a real shrew to work for.....well as in ANY business.....if you want to be successful, you have to stay on top of how your company is being run. And yes, sometimes....Business owners have to be stern to keep a show running well. I"m not so sure I could have had the patience she's had while dealing with every day pressures in a multi-million Business. She's a "hands on" kind of person....and likes to see for "herself" that her company is run with professionalism.

I would certainly like her show being considered to be reinstated in the morning shows in our area. She has millions of viewers who miss her.....and the innovative ways she could come up with to help teach even youngest mother, or housewife. If she's proven innocent.....she's going to be back on top again....and in an even bigger way, with her fans rallying behind her. She's given too much to America....just to be forgotten.

We will all be watching closely.....please be fair to a very much deserving lady that has worked hard for her company and had excellent ratings before this whole thing started. Alittle support and thanks for those she's helped.....would say volumes from the networks.

Thanks for your time....

Sincerely,

Dear CBS,

Please do the right thing and put some quality TV on the air.  We don’t want “REALITY” garbage.   We want things we can put on and watch with our family.  ALL of them even the little ones.  We want to learn, create, feel good and maybe even watch with our kids without our finger on the “kill button” when there is something inappropriate.  You can make a difference.  Martha Stewart is a quality person with great talent.   Please consider putting her back where she belongs.  Thank you.

I can't believe that you replaced Martha Stewart with Ali & Jack.  How bad has it gotten.  I'm expecting to see this show off the air very soon-- who actually watches it?
I'm a long time fan of Martha and always will be.  You've pulled out too soon and you should be ashamed!
Not to mention I have a few words for Jane Clayson-- she needs to learn from Barbara Walters!!!

Dear CBS,

First, thanks to ABC for airing the important, and symbolic, interview between Barbara Walters and Martha Stewart.   Martha is an outstanding woman in every way and the people who're attempting to prosecute her are no better than Ken Starr and his gang.

Let's Cut the Comedy and do what's right for a change.

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

A friend called me tonight to remind me to watch the Barbara Walters interview with Martha Stewart.  Kathie, a savvy grandmother in her mid-70's, who doesn't own a computer, or email, so she asked me to say, on her behalf, that she's enjoyed hours upon hours of Martha's helpful and positive shows, and has lost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in her retirement account as a result of Kenny Boy Lay and his Enron rip-off of trusting American citizens.  Allegations against Martha Stewart's puny loss are beginning to look more and more like a diversion tactic to allow the real criminals to avoid prosecution.

I think that women and men who stand behind Martha might show their support by purchasing 5 to 10 shares of her company on her trial date, January 12, 2004, to show symbolic support for American justice and for a woman who's been cruelly maligned.

The world is watching.

Respectfully,

Dear CBS,Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

I am in the Atlanta market and have not and will not tune to your network because of the unfair chicken-assed treatment you have give Martha Stewart.  I always wondered why she consented to be affiliated with you anyway.  I contacted the local station months ago and was never given the courtesy of a reply.  They replaced MSL with Divorce Court.  What an example of fine programming that was.

You tv execs should get your heads out of your butts and realize that women such as Martha exist and will always be your best competition.  She may not be everyone's cup of tea personally, but she does her homework and presents entertaining information that can only do all of us good.  This country is becoming a nation of slobs and ignoramuses.  Tell me who shouldn't be exposed to manners and good taste?

Dear CBS, Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

The only time I watched channel 4, or any channel for that matter, was at 9:00 to watch the Martha Stewart show.  I can't stand to watch another show with a ditzy blond (or blonds) and a hen-pecked man.  They are on every station in the morning.

When I called the station to see what happened and that I would rather watch Martha cook chicken instead of watching a blond chicken running around the stage as if her head was cut off, she advised me to tape the midnight show.  Well, this was a good idea.  Now I tape the show and play it at 9:00 a.m. and fast forward through the commercials.  I now get an intelligent, well produced multi-topic show without having to listen to ads.  What other show on TV incorporates gardening, cooking, decorating, history, pet care, and tips to keep children busy, plus more?  I can't think of any.  If there is, please let me know.  Thanks bunches. Barb.

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show and ensure her regular 9:00 a.m. weekday time slot. I was appalled to realize that your new Jack Ford/Ali Somebody's show is apparently replacing Martha on Sept. 15th! This is a major scheduling mistake that will earn you more enemies than friends.

Unlike Rosie or even Oprah, Martha's appeal is not based primarily on her personality. Martha provides her viewers with content --a constant flow of fresh ideas for food, entertaining, gardening, travel, basically all the interests of the average American homemaker. We all enjoy teasing  a celebrity's image, but once Martha's viewers realize that you are cutting off her delivery of content, you are in for backlash bigtime.

You have consistently underestimated Martha Stewart's audience and the basic goodwill people feel toward her across the country. Yet another vapid talk show is not going to fill the bill.

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS EARLY SHOW and CBS channel 2 in
Los Angeles at 9:00 am!!!!!! I have not watched and will not watch the EARLY
SHOW until she is back. I will not watch LIVING IT UP either.

Thank you,
Madalyn Rofer-Choate

Dear CBS,

Minneapolis was not mentioned as one of the affiliates but we have missed Martha here too.

I think it's the height of conciet to think that people are so habituated to watching television at that hour that they will watch anything put in front of them.

This action is one more reason not to watch CBS or to support advertisers on these mediocre substitute programs. The lack of leadership demonstrated by organizations that should know better -such as CBS, is not going unnoticed.

There are plenty of other choices out there and with luck another broadcasting corporation will see an opportunity to win millions of viewers by doing "a good thing".

Dear CBS,

Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.I always enjoyed starting the day with the cbs morning show and then Martha Stewart. Well thanks to your inspired change of her time slot... no more! Why even have her on at all.Two am? I am a satalite owner/ and watcher and don't watch much of  the regular networks. You can be sure it will be a lot less now. I and million of others will be sure NOT to watch cbs at all. Rethink and bring Martha back to the 9 oclock time slot.
Sincerely
Mrs.Loraine L. Keane

Dear CBS, Please bring Martha Stewart back to the CBS Early Show.

I've been a very sick person for years. I find it very difficult to get around but  I always look forward to watching Martha Stewart at 9 A.M. She gives me a reason to live. I've learned a lot from her and she makes my life alot easier. Now I feel that a part of my life has been taken away from me. It's not fair. PLEASE, PLEASE bring Martha Stewart back. We need her in our lives and in the lives of our children.

Elsie
