SaveLilo

Save Lilo is by Lindsay Lohan fans and people concerned about the publics obsession with the personal lives of celebrities.

Lindsay Lohan deserves the support we would give anyone in her very difficult situation, and Save Lilo will be there to support her and others who are in similar predicaments.  Addiction is a serious disease, yet Lindsay and others like her are being used as foils to distract and dumb down our daily discourse.

This unhealthy societal obsession has led to unprecedented levels of media coverage of celebrities, from major (Brad and Angelina) to the most minor (Paris and Nicole), and is destroying all illusions our society has had regarding respect for personal privacy.

Yet the media would not obsessively cover these stories if the public, as they always have, did not crave them. This new wave of paparazzi tabloid media, combined with always on instant access via the web and wireless devices, is changing the media landscape and threatens to crumble the very foundations on which it was founded.

The result will be the mass tabloidization of all media, including politics, the arts, music, and even science (most notably the debate about “intelligent design”). This in turn will create a mass culture of illiteracy and over simplification, with a population either alienated and resigned to its own disenfranchisement, or one that is unable to intelligently understand any type of communication that is not based on images, video, sound and emotion.

It will be the end of the world as we know it, and the beginning of global tribalism.   It will mean the end of intellectualism and the beginning of a dumbing down tantamount to a global lobotomy.  Such populations are easily manipulated and controlled, acting in ways contrary to their own self-interest and survival. Only the public can stop it, yet it may already be too late.

Only if the public can re-find it’s own sense of reason, empathy and compassion can global  be averted. Save Lilo is one way for this to begin…
